The idea of an Ormesby Flower Show came from the local “Toc H” branch, who met on 29th May 1963, proposing the first show on 7th September 1963.

Toc H was the shortened version for Talbot House, which was a rest house for soldiers near the battlefields of Ypres, founded in 1915. It developed into a fellowship group after the war, and was granted Royal Charter in 1922, becoming a worldwide charitable movement. Membership of the Toch H organisation declined towards the end of the 20th century, so we can only surmise that the local Ormesby Toch H ,that became a branch in 1947, faded away.

The show developed over the coming years with its stewardship being taken on by the gardening club. By the 1980's the show had expanded to incorporate Great Ormesby, Little Ormesby, Scratby and California. Around this time the local schools were also encouraging junior entrants alongside their parents.

Further development saw the show become an independent organisation. The show has changed over the years in name and in reach. Its legacy has been maintained by generations of committed volunteers who have strived to keep the show running

In a nod to the original Toc H principles of "building the common good" we use each years excess funds to support a local charitable cause.

We are proud to be continuing the show over 60 years later!
